About Rotaract Club of Behala
Rotaract Club of Behala was chartered on 19-03-1993. Under
the aegis of Rotary Club of Behala, which is one of the best Rotary Clubs in the
city, we have always been in the forefront of Rotaract World.
Able leaders, members and alumni have constantly shaped the history and we
are proud of the fact that history making is a never ending process with us. A
network of alumni in diverse fields has made us aware of the powerful platform
that we are on.
It has by far been one of the most exciting and admired clubs in Kolkata city.
Our club was revived after a gap on 1997 - 98 by Rtr. Biswajit Goswami. We have
set standards for ourselves and now we are constantly revising them and
upgrading them. This is where we enjoy rotaracting, challenging ourselves,
stepping ahead and moving forward - always.

Our Mission
The purpose of Rotaract is to provide an opportunity for young men and women to
enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development,
to address the physical and social needs of their communities, and to promote
better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship
and service.

Social Responsibility
Projects generally pertain to community services and their span vary from making
a first-aid kit available at the hostel counter to holding a Free medical camp
for the residents of neighboring villages.

of our regular activities include Blood donation Camps, Eye pledging Camps,
Health Camps, Donation of school books and foods for the students of nearby
schools, Arranging Talks on varied subjects, conducting Competitions like
Antakshari, Poem recitation etc.
History of formation
In a late autumn evening on 14th of November 1992 seven bright young people came
together with the idea of forming Rotaract Club of Behala. Except myself, who
was then the president of Rotary Club of Behala, ex-member Pradip Sen and Rtr.
Sourav Sen the then District Rotaract Representative were present. A few sitting
later and with younger mind coming together it was finally resolved that
procedural formality should commence for formation of the club.
Date of organization of Rotaract Club was 23rd February 1993 and the
organization list with the required file was sent to South Asia Branch Office of
Rotary International at Delhi by the then District Governor Rtn. K. Chandramohan
on 16th March 1993. The certificate of organization commonly called “THE
CHARTER” was signed by the then R.I.President Clifford L. Dockterman on 19th
March 1993 and was forwarded to Rotaract Club of Behala by Rotary South Asia
Branch Office on 6th April 1993. The Charter also has my signature as District
Representative and Club president. The charter presentation ceremony was held on
10th July 1993 at the auditorium of East India Pharmaceutical Works Ltd, at the
Basusree Cinema premises, in the presence of several Rotary District dignitaries
and distinguished personalities from Behala locality. The following was the
first board for 1993-94.

Initial total member of the club were 26 and their regular meeting used to be
held at the residence of P.P Rtn. Prabir Roy. First bulletin of the club was
named “THE MAGPIE” and sketch of “JOB CHARNOCK’S KUTHI” was the club’s official
logo.
